Playing Favorites with Nan Schwartz
Tomorrow 6:00 pm ET
Willie Schwartz was one of the most respected sax and clarinet session players in Los Angeles in the '40s, '50s and beyond. Nelson Riddle and Billy May called on Willie for most Sinatra recordings and his history goes back before that…beginning with Glenn Miller hits in the 1930s. We found Willie’s daughter, Nan Schwartz, who is a Grammy-winning arranger for her work with Natalie Cole on the Still Unforgettable collection and who has been nominated for numerous Emmys for her work scoring episodic TV, and asked her to host this hour, choosing songs that feature her dad as well as her mom, who sang for Tommy Dorsey as a member of The Sentimentalists. This music runs though her veins and she’ll share some of that history with us this week.  (1 hr)

Rebroadcast: Thurs 11/12 9:00 am ET; Sat 11/14 3:00 pm ET

Playing Favorites with Linda Eder

Linda tours the nation, both on her own and in tandem with Michael Feinstein, honoring the Great American Songbook and the wonderful songs of the Broadway stage, where Linda bounced the boards in Jekyll & Hyde. Now, she plays some of her own recordings along with some more of the Frank cuts she loves most on her second tour of duty hosting Playing Favorites.  (1 hr)
